Gomoku Battle

Gomoku is the strategic board game played on a 15×15 grid where Black and White take turns placing stones, and the first player to line up five stones in a row — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — wins. Long enjoyed across East Asia under the names Gomoku, Renju, and Omok, it's one of the rare board games whose rules you can master in 30 minutes yet whose depth of read-ahead can absorb a lifetime.

OgleOgle Gomoku Battle supports real-time 1v1 multiplayer with a friend. Create a room and a unique invite link is generated; the moment your friend taps it, you both share the same board with Black and White assigned automatically. Every move syncs instantly to the opponent's screen, and clear turn indicators plus a last-move highlight ensure you're never guessing whose turn it is.

The foundational concepts are "4s and 3s." A row of four same-colored stones with both ends open is an "open four" — your opponent absolutely must block it or you win next turn. A row of three with both ends open is an "open three" — if your opponent doesn't block immediately, it evolves into an open four on your next move and is essentially lethal. Finding a move that simultaneously creates your own three while blocking the opponent's four — a "double-purpose move" — is the gateway to higher-level play.

Many variants exist (Renju rules forbid Black from playing 3-3, 4-4, or overlines) to offset Black's first-move advantage, but OgleOgle Gomoku Battle uses beginner-friendly free rules. A game runs about 5 to 15 minutes, the win is auto-detected and mirrored on both screens the moment five-in-a-row appears, and you can rematch in the same room immediately.

It's the perfect mobile-light game for a friend chat, a post-lunch desk break, or a holiday gathering with family. Send the invite via messenger or DM and the opponent joins straight from a browser — no install required. Simple rules, infinite read-ahead, and the real-time tension of a head-to-head match against someone you know. Start a game now on OgleOgle Gomoku Battle.
