Spacebar Counter (KPS)

How many times can you hit the spacebar in 5 seconds? Measure your KPS and climb the global ranking.

How to play

  • Press Start, then mash the spacebar on desktop (or tap the pad on mobile) — the timer starts on your first press.
  • Press as many times as you can before the 5 seconds run out.
  • Your score is KPS = total presses ÷ 5 seconds. Higher is better!

The Spacebar Counter measures one thing with brutal honesty: how many times you can press the spacebar in a fixed 5-second window. Your score is KPS — key presses per second — calculated as total presses divided by 5. It is the same raw-speed benchmark that gamers and rhythm players use to gauge and train finger speed, and it doubles as a fun reflex challenge for anyone with a keyboard or a touchscreen.

Play is dead simple. Press Start, then hammer the spacebar (or tap the pad) as fast as you can — the timer begins on your very first press so reaction lag never counts against you. When five seconds elapse, you get your KPS to two decimals, your total press count, and a tier from Warming Up to Lightning Finger. Most people land between 5 and 7 KPS; trained gamers reach 8 to 10; the rare elite break past 12. Alternating two fingers on the bar or keeping a relaxed, bouncing wrist will push the number higher, but consistent single-finger tapping is the cleanest way to climb.

A full round is just five seconds, making this one of the fastest self-tests on OgleOgle — perfect for a keyboard warm-up, a quick focus reset, or a head-to-head with friends. Share your result as a challenge link and compare KPS under identical rules, or chase the top of the global leaderboard. Find out today exactly how fast your fingers really are.
